If this is mind-over-matter (no pun intended), why would it hurt him? I'm not saying he can or can't, simply asking for an explaination.

This is a highly restrictive, angle-sensitive trick. The tricks using editing IMO were not a good idea and in the end makes him look like a cheater and con which is not the message he's trying to put out. It really freaked me out how he did that.
